The Breast Center of Menorah and Gail's Harley-Davidson Rev Up Awareness for Breast Cancer!

Last updated 8 months ago

The 3rd Annual Pink Power Ride symbolizes that no one rides the journey of breast cancer alone.

When it comes to breast cancer, The Breast Center of Menorah, accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), sends a loud and clear message to patients:  no one rides alone on this journey. For the third year in a row, Menorah Medical Center—part of HCA Midwest Health System, Kansas City’s largest healthcare system and largest private-sector employer—partners with Gail’s Harley-Davidson for a symbolic 100-mile ride to raise awareness of breast cancer and to support survivors of the disease that, according to the American Cancer Society, nearly 240,000 women are diagnosed with annually.

The Annual Pink Power Ride begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at the Menorah Medical Center campus with a free hot breakfast. Registration is from 9 to 10 a.m.  Hundreds of riders are expected—many of them dressed in pink—on all makes of motorcycles and the escorted ride will leave from Menorah at 10 a.m. The 100-mile poker run includes the opportunity to win prizes, with the top hand receiving a $350 gift certificate to Gail’s Harley-Davidson. Lunch and entertainment will be provided at Gail’s following the ride’s conclusion. All proceeds from the ride will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

Pam Handlan, RT, director of The Breast Center of Menorah, says the Pink Power Ride signifies the intensive support for breast cancer awareness, education and research and the recognition of survivorship.  “The Breast Center demonstrates a firm commitment to offer our patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast diseases with advanced technology and some of the best physicians in the area,” says Handlan. “The outpouring of community support in events like the Pink Power Ride is vital to people involved in the journey of diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.”

The Breast Center of Menorah Medical Center provides comprehensive breast care from prevention and screening to diagnosis, treatment and survivorship care. The prestigious, all-encompassing accreditation recognizes physician leadership and vision, research-based standards of care and quality initiatives.  Accreditation by the NAPBC is given only to those breast centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance. The designation means that The Breast Center of Menorah is among the best comprehensive breast centers in the country.

Pre-registration for the Pink Power Ride is $25; visit feelthepower.com to register online.  The ride is $30 per rider for those registering on Sept. 29.   T-shirts are available for $15.
